Today, MASCOT Vietnam received an award for high labour standards and environmental policies from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in Vietnam. Good working conditions are important for MASCOT, who take its social responsibility very seriously.
Ever since its establishment in 2008, MASCOT Vietnam has had focus on fulfilling the ethical, social and environmental responsibilities as a company. Thomas Bo Pedersen, Managing Director MASCOT Vietnam had this to say about the award: »It is a great encouragement for us to be recognised by the Vietnamese government. I believe that there is a direct link between our labour standards and the high efficiency in our production of quality workwear in Vietnam and Laos«.
Chairwoman for MASCOT’s trade union committee, Hoang Thi Huong, is just as positive about the award for MASCOT Vietnam: »Ever since I joined the company in 2013, I have seen a consistent effort from the company’s management to give the staff good conditions in a safe and healthy environment. This includes training courses on all related issues within health and safety. The efforts also have a strong positive impact on the staff, and how they feel about being employed with MASCOT Vietnam,« Hoang Thi Huong states.
MASCOT’s factories in both Vietnam and Laos are SA 8000 certified. The SA 8000-certification is documented proof of safe and secure working conditions, where the working environment is adapted to local conditions, there are reasonable working hours and wages, and where an effective management system is in focus. Since the establishment of the factories in Vietnam and Laos, MASCOT has had European management and European labour standards, including health insurance, free nourishing canteen, membership in a trade union, a high safety level and a free medical clinic for all employees.
The Chairwoman for MASCOT’s trade union committee and employee in the administration Hoang Thi Huong receives the certificate of merit on behalf of MASCOT for “MASCOT Vietnam’s excellent achievement on labour safety and hygiene in 2016”.
